Samantha Murtha is a resident of Newtown, Connecticut. She grew up in New York, where she began her passionate studies of the voice and music at a very young age. She has studied voice for over twenty years, and now currently teaches private voice and piano lessons. Samantha directs various choirs and is the Musical Director at Immaculate High School. Her vocal background, at the individual and collegiate level, include Opera, Musical Theater, Pop, Country and Rock. She studied Music Education at Western Connecticut State Univeristy, and is a recipient of both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. Throughout her time there, she studied Music Education (K-12), as well as Opera Studies, including a performance at Carnegie Hall with the New York City Opera and West Point Glee Club. Samantha spends much of her free time performing in various bands within the local area, covering Top 40, Pop and Rock. Samantha has had various lead roles in summer community theater over the recent years, including her most recent role as Velma Kelly in Chicago. Samantha was a State Finalist in the Connecticut Country Music Showdown and won 3rd place in her age group in the Nashville Rising Stars Youth Vocal Competition. She is very excited about her most recent project; being featured on an original blues record with the band Midnight Vinyl. (releasing April 2018)
